About Baton Rouge Zoo

Baton Rouge Zoo is the first zoo in Louisiana to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Currently, it is home to over 800 animals, both domestic and exotic from across the world. Examples of animals kept in this zoo include the big cats, rhinos, fish, reptiles, otters and Louisiana amphibians accommodated in the L’aquarium de Louisiana. The zoo is open on a daily basis except during holidays like Christmas. Its mission is to connect people with animals and help conserve wild animals in wild places. The zoo has recently incorporated a World-class Realm of the tiger, the Flamingo Cove, Giants of the islands and Safari Playground. Hotels near the zoo include the Fairfield Inn and Suites, Hampton Inn and Suites and Hilton Garden Inn Baton Rouge.

The Baton Rouge Zoo is the place to be if you would love to interact and connect with animals like giraffes, rhinos, alligators and tigers. It is situated approximately 15 minutes north of downtown Baton Rouge and managed by BREC.
