THIGH LIFT – THIGHPLASTY – BATON ROUGE, LA
Thigh Lift(Thighplasty) Overview
If you happen to be unhappy with the way your thighs look, then you are not alone. For many women the joy of losing those extra pounds can easily be overshadowed by the appearance of wrinkles due to excess skin that has been left behind. A Thighplasty, also known as a Thigh Lift is a cosmetic procedure which is used to remove any excess skin or tissue from the outer, inner parts of the thigh area. This procedure is a great option for those women who want to get smoother, more youthful looking thighs.
That can be easily achieved with the help of a Thighplasty procedure. If you want to have a tight and smooth thigh, but are unable to even with the proper diet and exercise, then a thigh lift can help. Plastic surgeon, Dr. Theunissen in Baton Rouge, LA will re-contour the skin and tissue of the thighs, to improve its appearance. Apart from that, Thighplasty can also be combined with other cosmetic procedures such as a lower body lift or tummy tuck to address the flabby appearance of those areas.

SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
During a thigh lift the amount of incisions required or their pattern will vary depending on the degree of correction that’s necessary for the desired results. The most common technique that is used during a Thighplasty is making an incision in the groin and extending it down the inner/medial leg. This allows the surgeon to reshape the underlying tissue matrix, and tighten the skin, making it smoother and more proportionate to the other body contours.
In some cases, the surgeon might recommend a minimal incision medial thigh lift which involves making an incision in the groin area alone, while in other cases, the surgeon may have to make an incision which extends around the hip from the groin area, when improving the contours of the outer thigh. More advanced techniques may also be used in the thigh lift procedure which involves incisions being made at strategic areas where they can be concealed by most types of clothing and swimsuits. No matter what procedure your surgeon recommends, the smoother and tighter contouring of the skin of your thighs will be apparent immediately after the procedure, right after the swelling has reduced.
The options of a Thigh Lift will be discussed with you preoperatively and will be recommended by your surgeon based upon your choice and required results.
DURING AND AFTER SURGERY
A Thighplasty procedure is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes around two to three hours to complete. It is normally considered to be an out-patient procedure, with the patient being allowed to leave the same day of the surgery. A slight amount of bruising, swelling and pain should be expected around the area of the thighplasty for at least one or two weeks post surgery. The surgeon normally recommends that the patient return to their normal activities, beginning with limited movement after 1 week, which is followed by more strenuous activity after the 3 – 4 week period. Baton Rouge Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Theunissen will provide scar care guidelines post surgery, but patients will experience the final results of their Thighplasty after around 3 months. That is, if the patient’s weight remains stable.
