Vaginal Tightening

VAGINOPLASTY | VAGINAL TIGHTENING | THERMIVA – BATON ROUGE, LA

Vaginoplasty / Vaginal Tightening / Thermiva Overview

Vaginoplasty, vaginal tightening, involves tightening of the vaginal wall. It may be done surgically or non-surgically with ThermiVa. Candidates for this procedure are usually women whose vaginal walls have been damaged and/or stretched due to child birth. Usually for surgical and non-surgical cases it is performed on the upper third area of the vaginal canal where the vaginal canal does not contain muscles. Because this area does not contain muscles, it can not be tightened with exercises.

The approach is to surgically or non-surgically reduce the volume of the pre-existing “cup” region of the vagina, that was damaged and/or stretched by childbirth. In most vaginoplasty cases, it has been stretched to a point that it won’t naturally retract to its pre-existing size before childbirth.

Many times during childbirth, the area of the vagina that contains muscles can be stretched and damaged as well. In this area, the underlying muscles can be tightened during surgery. This process is called perineoplasty repair(posterior repair) and is done in conjunction with vaginoplasty when necessary. Women often opt for Labiaplasty, labia reduction and reshaping, in conjunction with vaginoplasty as well.

The most common causes of loosing of the vaginal walls usually includes:

  • Pregnancy and Childbirth
  • Menopause
  • Aging
  • Natural Hereditary Conditions

In order to improve the tightness of the vaginal walls, of the Baton Rouge plastic surgeons, Dr. Taylor Theunissen performs vaginoplasty to help women achieve the vaginal tightness they desire.
